Cataract surgery: Dr. Callahan uses a modern "phaco chop" surgery to remove cataracts. The procedure usually takes about 15 minutes. This type of surgery allows most patients to return to full activities within 24 hours. Dr. Callahan operates at the INOVA Countryside Ambulatory Surgery Center, just a few miles east of Leisure World.

Glaucoma management: Dr. Callahan has managed thousands of glaucoma patients and glaucoma suspects. In office laser procedures can be performed when indicated.

Laser vision correction: Dr. Callahan began performing laser vision correction in 1996.  Dr. Callahan himself had LASIK in 1997. In 2006 he began LASIK co-management with Dr. Rajesh Rajpal (See Clearly Vision), an associate for seven years. Dr. Rajpal, the first doctor to perform laser vision correction in the Washington, D.C. area, does the surgery. Dr. Callahan performs the pre-operative consultation and evaluation, as well as all post-operative care.
